What is Propionic Acid Feed Grade?

Propionic Acid (C₂H₅COOH) is a short-chain fatty acid naturally produced during carbohydrate fermentation. It has strong antimicrobial properties, especially against molds, yeasts, and some bacteria.

In animal feed production, feed-grade propionic acid is commonly used as an effective preservative to prevent fungal growth in grains, compound feed, and stored agricultural products.

Compared with traditional preservatives, propionic acid works by lowering pH and disrupting microbial metabolism, helping maintain feed freshness and nutritional value during storage.
