HPMC E5 is a cellulose-based polymer commonly used in film coating, wet granulation, and hard capsule production. It is nearly insoluble in hot water, acetone, anhydrous ethanol, and toluene, but dissolves in cold water to form a colloidal solution. HPMC E5 is classified as E type 2910, with an average methoxyl group content of 29% and an average hydroxypropyl group content of 10%.
